Sigmatism – one of the most frequent speech defects, consisting in incorrect articulation of dentalized sounds of one, two or three ranks (silent: ś, ź, ć, dź; sibilant: s, z, c, dz; voiced: sh, ż, cz, dż), taking the form of deformation (e.g. interdental sigmatism = interdental).
