Auditory perception disorder – an auditory disorder of speech perception. It is not caused by a hearing loss, but by disturbances in the analysis and synthesis of speech sounds, resulting from abnormal functioning of the relevant areas of the brain, mainly the left hemisphere, where the auditory cortical centre is located.
