Autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It is characterised by difficulties in communication and social interaction. It also involves restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour. They may be accompanied by impairments in intellectual development and functional speech. The term ‘spectrum disorder’ denotes the variety of symptoms and their severity.

ASD usually begins in early childhood. It leads to problems in personal, family, social, school or work functioning. The abilities and needs of autistic people are varied and variable over time. Some patients can live independently, while others require constant support and care.

No cure for autism has been developed. Management of ASD relies mainly on psychosocial interactions. Experts believe that early therapeutic intervention (before the Patient is 36 months old) is important for prognosis. Therefore, if you observe inconvenient symptoms in your child, you need to see a specialist immediately.
