The management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder does not lead to the elimination of its symptoms (cure). The aims of the measures taken are:

  • reducing the severity of symptoms (pharmacotherapy);
  • improving the patient’s quality of life;
  • preventing or treating complications.

In the case of chronic health problems, and ADHD is one of these, treatment usually lasts for years, often until the end of life. However, a significant proportion of people affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder begin to manage their symptoms in adulthood.
