Cognitive functions are a set of processes through which we perceive information from the environment and the relations between them (dependency relations), and thus reflect in our psyche what surrounds us. In reading and writing, the following cognitive processes are involved: attention, memory, sensations and perceptions (analysis and synthesis of sensations) visual, auditory-linguistic (in relation to speech sounds), tactile, kinetic, feeling of movement, orientation in body schema and directions in space.
